Tell your MP your fasting for Gaza

Copy and paste this template letter to tell your MP you're fasting for Gaza, and to demand the UK Government take urgent action to end the siege. And please, let us know if you have.

Dear XXX MP

I write to you as your constituent with concern for the thousands now starving in Gaza.

I have answered a call from The Very Revd Canon Richard Sewell, Dean of St George's College in Jerusalem, to join the Fast for Gaza, along with many Christians in the UK and across the world. The fast seeks to bear witness to the daily horrors in Gaza and serves as a prayer that our leaders act now to stop the suffering.

After more than 18 months of Israeli military bombardment, Palestinians are now burying their children who are dying from hunger. As Israel continues its total blockade of aid, international experts warn that one in five people in Gaza faces starvation.

The UK government is right to condemn Israel’s current actions in Gaza and suspend trade negotiations with Israel. Yet this is far too little, far too late.

The UK’s actions are insufficient and continue to render it complicit in Israeli atrocities. As The Very Revd Canon Richard Sewell says “It’s time for action, not talking and there’s no time to lose. Those in our world who have the power to stop this famine and end the conflict must do it now. The suffering people of Gaza don’t need a ‘limited amount of food’, they need a just and lasting peace so they can rebuild their lives.”

The UK must urgently step up to help stem the suffering, challenge Israeli impunity and support a just peace for Palestinians and Israelis.

I ask you to call on Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds to:

  • Ban all UK arms sales to Israel.

  • Suspend the existing UK-Israel Trade Agreement.

  • Ban UK trade with Israeli settlements.

  • Push for an end to the aid blockade of Gaza.

Yours sincerely,
