Get involved

Walk or cycle and raise money to fight against poverty. Lace up your boots and step out against poverty, or break the cycle of poverty on your bike!

Once you have registered you will be able to access suggested route notes and everything you need for successful fundraising. Create your own fundraising page or share our event fundraising page with your friends and family.

Sponsored walk

Take on the challenge with a group of friends, or come as an individual and walk alongside other Christian Aid supporters. If you choose to walk the full 84 miles yourself, do plan to stop in Haltwhistle for our celebration event en route!

Only have one day free? Walk at your own pace along one of our suggested day walks. When you sign-up you can download suggested route notes for:

  • Housesteads to Haltwhistle (East to West), Approx. 9 miles
  • Cawfields to Haltwhistle (West to East), Approx. 9 miles
  • A shorter, fully accessible route around Haltwhistle Burn

The walks will NOT be marshalled or signed by Christian Aid, and you will undertake them at your own pace. The suggested route notes are for guidance only, to help you time your walk to meet with other Christian Aid walkers. So please do take proper precautions and make sure you plan your route in advance.

Sponsored cycle

If you choose to join the cycle challenge, you will be put in touch with the organising volunteer for further details. The cycle ride travels from West to East. Bring a picnic to enjoy in dedicated spots on each route.

Afterwards, refreshments will be served in Haltwhistle ahead of our 80th Anniversary Celebration Event at Haltwhistle Methodist Church.

We will be taking photographs and/or video-recordings at the event, which may be used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to appear in these, please make yourself known to Christian Aid staff on the day.
